12:31 am - New items - buy online
tabahnofshoer I began the journey to my mailbox with hardly a care, giving my daily walk little thought to feed upon. I strode down the driveway unmindful of anything, musings far too random to pinpoint. The only sound I heard was the noise my footsteps made upon the gravel, for there was no one around. No people were present to disturb the still peace that loomed in the air.

Freeing the latch from its captor, I opened the gate, slowly, lest I should interrupt the profound silence I was so unaccustomed to. I executed ten more steps before I finally reached, and opened, my mailbox. I retrieved the mail feeling as though I were performing a rare task, despite the fact that I carried out such a chore each afternoon. I closed my mailbox with a mental shrug, ready to shake the odd feeling and return to my home.

Before I carried my prize back, however, I found my attention drawn across the street. Five horses stood in a line, their eyes fixated upon my presence. They looked on from their own gate, our gazes interlocked.

12:14 am - Plagiarism
billybuddd After hearing "Baby's One Do" and noticing how similar it sounded to "Fools Gold" by the Stone Roses and hearing how a Duran Duran riff was lifted for "Dada" I decided to look into this a bit more. I read on 2chan that at some point they just started copying 90s western alternative songs and never cited the originals, a good example of this is "Looser Sugar" which is pretty much a straight cover of "Sugarcube" by Yo La Tengo, also a number of Asaki-era Guniw songs resemble the band Curve to an uncanny degree. I was wondering if you guys were aware of this and if any of you actually own the CDs could you check the credits for these songs and see if the original artists are ever cited?

10:00 pm - Winter themed music?

It's smack-dab in winter where I am, so that got me to thinking... are there any Guniw songs that you associate with/make you think of/like to listen to during the cold season?

For me, Fat December is an obvious choice, and Baby's one do is another because it's cheery and makes me think of warmer weather (I don't like the cold!).

How 'bout you all? :)

7:29 am - Their ages?

Apologies if this is common knowledge or anything (I'm a rather recent Guniw Tools fan), but my brother and I have been wondering for a couple days...

How old are the members? We're mostly curious about Full, though. Does anyone have birthdates or anything like that?

Thank you in advance!

8:08 pm - Translations

Hello everyone! Don't know if it will be of interest to anyone, but I've been trying to translate some of Full's lyrics, and I'm posting them on my LJ. (For the Japanese-speakers among us, stop by and have a laugh at my poor efforts, lol.)

3:30 pm - What's your idea of the perfect setlist?

Hello, fellow fans of Full! I have what I think might be a fun question for you all. Imagine Full's putting on a concert and you get to go. It can be anywhere in the world, in a small cafe or a concert hall. But here's the fun part: you get to choose the songs he performs. What would the perfect setlist be like? Pick songs from any of his bands.

What's the average length of a concert, 12 to 15 songs? Let's stay in that range, even though we'd probably all like to keep him long enough to perform all his albums. :D

Bonus fun: have you ever wanted to hear Full doing a cover of another song? Tell us a few, whether or not he speaks the language.

Crossposted to fancypink and oldriver. Really looking forward to seeing everyone's answers!

2:33 pm - Looking for lyrics

I'm not sure anyone will be able to help me with this, but it's always worth a shot!

I've been looking for an English translation of Mudai no tou. It is one of my absolute favorite songs and I really want to know what the lyrics say.

If anyone has a translation or can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it more than I can say. I've looked so many places on multiple occasions and can't find anything. Maybe a translation just doesn't exist anywhere? T_T

Thank you in advance for any help that anyone can offer.

8:17 pm - A Jake Update (and an Asaki p.s.)

Here's some updated information about Jake's solo unit, cloudchair.

Official websites:

cloudchair at MySpace. Listen to Jake's latest release, "Echoes and Whispers," a digital maxi-single. This is ambient, healing music. Very beautiful! (Site info is in English and Japanese.)

cloudchair: digital indie store. Those of us outside of Japan can now purchase digital downloads of "Echoes and Whispers" at this site. (English language site.)

cloudchair at Last.fm. Actually, this is Jake's personal site. So, if you're on last.fm, and you like Jake's work, you might want to add him as a friend, or just let him know what his work has meant to you. (Don't worry about posting in English, he seems to read and write the language quite well.)

cloudchair words, Jake's official blog, can now be found at http://www.cloudchair.net/blog/
The blog is written in Japanese, but a fairly decent translation into English is available via Excite at http://www.excite.co.jp/world/english/web/ The Excite webpage is written in Japanese, but just paste the address of the site you want translated into the box beneath the word "url." Then choose the second option in the box below: 日ー英 (Japanese to English.) Notice the yellow arrow to your right, click on the box to which it points. You will be taken to the translated page. (IMHO, Google's Japanese/English translations went all the way to hell in a hand basket last year, so I definitely recommend Excite.)

And the p.s. about Asaki?
I'm probably the last person in the world to have discovered this, but just in case . . . . Age of Punk has an official page at MySpace, featuring 5 AOP songs! The url is http://www.myspace.com/ageofpunksidewalk

7:20 pm - Guniw Tools Translation Collection!!!

a lot of people come to fancypink looking for lyrics, and a lot of websites that used to have translations are dead now, so i thought "why not put them all in one place?". and so i did! i collected up all the lyrics i have (not including romaji, just kanji and translations) and put them in my journal for you:

Untranslated lyrics
Translated by others
Translated by me

there are around 40 songs there now overall.
but what i'd really like is if other fancypinkers could contribute and help me complete it :D so if you have anything you've translated that isn't there and would like to contribute, please let me know!

1:16 am - Guniw Tools DVD
nocturnal_shade There are two dvds that have been released, the boxset and vv singles. What's on the dvds exactly, and is vv singles already included in the box set? Oh yes, I also wanted to know if there's any information on re-releasing guniw tool cds? They're sold out everywhere (I was a late fan ;o;) and are terribly hard to find. :/

12:55 am - Jake's new maxi-single & question about "WebMoney"

Cloudchair, Jake's solo unit, has just released a digital maxi-single, Echoes and Whispers. So far, the songs in mp3 format are only available at Music Bazaar, Japan. If I'm reading the company's FAQ correctly, there's just one payment option for those of us outside of Japan, via a service called "WebMoney." Has anyone here ever used this service? I'm wondering if it's safe and reliable.

About Echoes and Whispers . . . Jake calls it "ambient guitar" music. There's an mp3 online for listening and download that combines samples from all three of the songs at Muzie: cloudchair. It's very beautiful.

12:15 am - Who is Momopie?

Hello everyone,

Some months ago I found a video on YouTube that had a Guniw Tools tag, but it was by the artist Momopie. Does anyone here know what the connection is? I've found Momopie's blog, but it is, of course, in Japanese - which I can't read. And a Google translation of Japanese is kind of like "choose your own adventure."

Any information would be appreciated. Momopie is cute as a bug, and his weird little songs are charming. Also . . . since the video isn't online anymore, does anyone have a copy that they would be willing to share?

4:54 pm - Dinah o_o

My friend asked me about Dinah...and I found I didn't have that much info on her. I went to got check Flowerpistol, but it's down ;o; I hope it's temporary.

I figured I'd try here next...does anyone have any information? Even if it's just basic, it would be really helpful. ^_^
